allocation sequence
Allocation schedules, or sequences, can be generated using different allocation processes to assign participants in a study to treatment comparison groups.
Unbiased allocation schedules are usually generated using random number tables or a computer algorithm designed to simulate random allocation.
This will ensure that, on average, participants in treatment comparison groups will be similar, and that any differences between them, other than the treatment assigned, can be confidently ascribed to the play of chance.
