disease progression bias

— In a study of diagnostic test accuracy, bias which occurs when the time period between the reference standard test and index test is so long that the health condition of interest may have changed between the two tests.

Full forklaring:

In studies of diagnostic test accuracy, the accuracy of a diagnostic test (the index test) is evaluated by comparing it to another diagnostic test (the reference standard test).

If the time period between when the two tests are administered to participants is large, the health condition that the test is intended to diagnose may have changed, so that the results of the two tests are no longer comparable.
