comparative study

— Any study that compares two or more treatments or factors

Full forklaring:

There are many different types of comparative studies, including randomized studies, and non-randomized studies.

A comparison is always needed to evaluate treatment effects, but sometimes there might be only one treatment comparison group. For example, in case series there might be a comparison of health conditions within the same group of people (the series of cases) before and after a treatment.
